WINNING STROKES: THINK DIFFERENT: Crest Animation Studios Ltd hits the 2 nd consecutive buyer freeze after it was recommended both to the Paid Group and also in this Blog. The stock which was once available around Rs.250 plus is now available at one-tenth that price. Refex Refrigerants Ltd would get benefit of the monopoly/ future generation products, products that are used in Summer Seasons. Moreover, a positive thrust on Refrigeration related companies in the railway budget and a Carbon Credits story would further add colour to the stock. The stock is heading for Rs.55-60, in the next few months. Please visit: http://www.refex.co.in/ for more on the company. My recommended Ritesh Properties and Industries Ltd ( BSE Code: 527407, CMP : Rs.16.5), which is into Real Estate apart from Garment Export, hit the 2 nd consecutive buyer freeze. Recently the company has marked its foray in realty sector by entering into a joint venture agreement with developers Ansal Properties and Infra...

Citigroup delivers surprise $4.3 billion profit Banking giant stuns analysts who were anticipating a loss, although results got big lift from sale of Smith Barney division. NEW YORK-- Citigroup surprised Wall Street Friday as the embattled banking giant reported a $4.3 billion profit in the second quarter. But the results were boosted largely by a $6.7 billion after-tax gain related to the completion of its sale of a majority of its Smith Barney wealth management division to Morgan Stanley. On a per share basis, the company said it earned 49 cents a share. Analysts were expecting the New York City-based bank to record a loss of $1.07 billion, or 37 cents a share. Citigroup CEO Vikram Pandit said that the latest results signaled that the company's turnaround efforts were finally starting to take hold, but acknowledged that there was still much work to be done, particularly in the company's consumer-related businesses. "Sustainable profitability remains our primary goal,...
Pyramid Saimira Theatres Ltd: Some thoughts: [Also Visit: www.pstl.in ; www. pstldatalab.blogspot.com ; www. pstlepost.blogspot.com & www. pstldunia.blogspot.com ] I was going through the Q4FY09 result sheet of Pyramid Saimira Theatres Ltd when I discovered that they look quite good if we remove the loss due to extraordinary items, which is massive around Rs.99.45 Cr. This loss affected the net profit margin though the operating profit margin actually increased in Q4FY09, from 12.61% to 15.01%, considering Y-o-Y figures. Hence though net sales decreased but at the end of the day, the bottomline is more or less intact, except that extrordinary item. Let me highlight some of the points in this connection: (a) The results of the 4th quarter, FY09, was hit by certain major extraneous events which includes Income Tax: an attachment of all its receivables, bank accounts, investments, box office etc. This has resulted in the Company’s loosening of system controls, increase in the leakag...

For many of these people, typically retirees or past middle age, it’s a holy monsoon tradition. For some, it’s just habit. And then there are the local publishers of the Ramayan, the epic holy to Hindus, said to be written by sage Valmiki in about fourth century BC. For them, Karkidakam, the last of the Malayalam months, is the harvest season. Sales of the epic reaches up to 150,000 copies—from pocket editions and larger versions with big fonts for the elderly to compact discs—ahead of and during the month, fetching a dozen local publishers of the Ramayan a combined R...

It is to be understood that Oil and Gas sector got lot of sops from the Union Budget (Some of them are mentioned in my mail to the Yahoo Group---SumanSpeaks). The budget is also positive for the infrastrucutre sector and power sectors. In case of Power Sector: (i) Power reforms programme funds of Rs.20.8 billion were to be earmarked in FY10 (ii) Customs duty on windmill inputs cut to 5% from 7.5%. We have a...

Monsoon picks up ; government says, no need to panic: India has a contingency plan if annual monsoon rains remain below normal and there is no need panic, the finance minister said on Wednesday. The weather office on Wednesday forecast rains in key cotton, rice and soy regions, including widespread precipitation in the next 48 hours in central India, boosting the soybean crop. "There has been some concern on the progress of the monsoon. As I mentioned earlier, the government is monitoring the situation," Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee told parliament. India was ready to implement a contingency plan, he said, but did not el...
