  • Reliance Industries (RIL) has won a contract to supply up to 50,000 barrels of petrol per day to Iran until the end of this year but may have temporarily halted exports to the Persian Gulf nation. Iran is the world's fourth-largest oil exporter but lacks the refining capacity to meet domestic demand. Iranian gasoline imports will average 120,000-140,000 barrels a day in May and June.
  • Suzlon Energy, which has been grappling with quality issues with its rotor blades in the US and struggling to repay debt, finds itself in rough weather yet again — this time in its home turf near Pune.
  • Vijay Mallya-promoted Kingfisher Airlines has got crucial funding of Rs 2,000 crore from State Bank of India and a consortium of other banks to meet working capital requirements.
  • Public sector lenders, Bank of Baroda (BOB), Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) and Andhra Bank have signed a joint venture agreement for setting up India BIA Bank (Malaysia) Bhd, a banking subsidiary in Malaysia.
  • The proposed aluminium park of the public sector metal major, National Aluminium Company (Nalco) at Angul in Orissa has run into uncertainty with the state government unwilling to join the project as a joint venture partner.
  • Gujarat NRE Coke said it had made a Rs 53.21-crore bid to take over the Australian mining company Rey Resources, which termed the move as “unsolicited” and decided to oppose it.
  • Anu’s Laboratories Limited, a Hyderabad-based manufacturer of bulk drug intermediates, will be raising Rs 250 crore for further expansion of existing facilities, acquisitions and graduating to manufacture of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).
