Consensus on Singur issue after CM-Mamata meeting:
Does it have any bearing with Ennore Coke Ltd, which has its factory in Haldia, a suburb of Kolkata??
Kolkata: A consensus was reached on the burning Singur issue on Sunday after a meeting between West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee in the presence of Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi. Sources said 200 acres of land would be returned to farmers who have been protesting against Tata’s Nano car factory in Singur.
Ahead of the meeting, the Governor, who has been chairing a meeting between the government and Trinamool Congress, had separate meetings with Bhattacharjee and Banerjee.
Bhattacharjee, who was at a Left Front meeting, left midway to meet the Governor and was with him for a little more than an hour. He then went back to brief the Left Front.
Shortly afterwards, the Trinamool chief, who has been on an indefinite dharna for the last 15 days at Singur demanding return of 400 acres to farmers unwilling to part with their land for the Tata Motors Nano small car project, drove down to Raj Bhavan.
While she was there, the Chief Minister returned for talks with her in the presence of Gandhi.
Before Banerjee's meeting with Governor, her key negotiator Trinamool leader Parta Chatterjee, who has been shuttling between Singur and Raj Bhawan since Friday, also met Gandhi.
